Having had an outdoor multicultural wedding myself, they always have a special place in my heart. So it was lovely to join Jimmy Cheng to photograph Claudia & James’ magical Four Seasons Hampshire wedding in a walled garden, combining English and Chinese wedding customs.
The morning followed the Chinese wedding traditions – Claudia got ready in a stunning red cheong sam, while James completed fun door games to win admittance to see her! A traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony took place where Claudia & James knelt to serve tea to their elder family members, receiving ang pow and gold jewellery (including a gold pig necklace signifying fertility), before being served tea by the younger members of the family.
After this, Claudia changed into an Aolisha white ballgown style wedding dress and long veil, helped by her bridesmaids in stylish pink dresses. She walked down a petal lined aisle to acoustic guitar for their outdoor wedding ceremony in the beautiful walled garden. We headed down to the river for romantic portraits before joining their guests (including some wedding dog guests!) enjoying ice creams from an old fashioned tricycle.
Claudia changed again into a sparkly pink dress for the evening reception in the main ballroom, which was decorated with giant light up letters, Mr and Mrs hangings for the back of their chairs and a tiered wedding cake with pink sugar roses and gold cake topper. After speeches and dancing, this Four Seasons Hampshire wedding ended with a sparkler exit for the bride and groom.
