Kate & Kilian planned their Lapstone Barn wedding in the Cotswolds for just after Christmas. Their multicultural wedding included important elements of both their Irish & Trinidadian heritage including a Catholic service at St Catharine’s church in Chipping Campden, a Caribbean steel band & a Bachata first dance.
Kate got ready at The Fish Hotel in Broadway – choosing a stunning lace wedding dress by Mikaella Bridal paired with Jimmy Choo heels. As her something blue she had both her sapphire engagement ring & a pale blue wool coat from Max Mara perfect for keeping warm at her winter wedding.
Kilian was getting ready at Dormy House where they would spend their first night as husband & wife. This luxury hotel & spa holds a special place in their hearts – it’s where Kilian proposed to Kate, & we arranged to visit to take some photos on the steps.
The ceremony took place in St Catharine’s Church in Chipping Campden. Kilian was emotional, wiping away a tear as Kate walked down the aisle. It was so touching to see just how much the marriage vows meant to them both, & the importance of the Communion shared with their family & friends. Jemima Phillips provided magical harp music throughout the ceremony, which sounded incredible with the acoustics of the church.
After the ceremony, Kate & Kilian took a stroll through Chipping Campden. There are so many beautiful spots for photos, particularly the market hall with it’s stonework arches. I loved how relaxed Kate & Kilian were – we stopped at the Bantam Tea Rooms for hot chocolate to warm up!
Kate & Kilian had chosen a relatively new Cotswolds wedding venue for their barn wedding reception. Their Lapstone Barn wedding was perfect – it’s a traditional 18th century barn, with honey-coloured stonework and room for up to 200 guests for a wedding ceremony or dinner. As an exclusive use wedding venue it has plenty of space for natural portraits with long views, as well as cosy corners.
Pantasy Steel Band got the reception going, with Caribbean beers in the main hall which was filled with fairy-lights, candles and even a Christmas tree. Once their guests were seated, Kate & Kilian took a moment alone, admiring the elegant gold framed mirror table plan with gorgeous calligraphy made by one of Kate’s friends. After dinner there were lots of speeches from all the parents, the bride, groom and best woman – with lots of laughter and some tears. Kate & Kilian slipped out to cut their three tiered naked wedding cake, before Kate changed into a silver evening dress for their Bachata first dance – kicking off a whole night of dancing at their Lapstone Barn wedding.
