I loved this intimate Muslim wedding at home. Iram’s Pakistani family and Ehab’s Iranian family came together to celebrate their religious wedding ceremony or Nikkah. Iram had decorated her family’s living room, creating a simple curtain backdrop, edged with flowers. She recycled her mum’s wedding outfit and made it her own – wearing her mum’s chunni (the long ornate scarf and beautiful silk Ghagro (long skirt) with a gold blouse she had made specially to compliment them, and many colourful bangles. I spent time with her while Shreya perfected her natural wedding make up, then photographed Ehab and his family being greeted and given flower garlands as they arrived at the house. 30 family members gathered for the Muslim ceremony at this multicultural wedding. They had a bespoke decorated mirror with their names, as well as decorative plates of dates. After the ceremony we did some family portraits, and found pretty spots in the back garden for some wedding portraits.
Iram kindly left a review to talk about how it felt working with me:
If you’re planning an at home Muslim wedding ceremony I’d love to talk to you about how I could capture your day. I’ve also photographed Muslim weddings at The Ritz London – as well as capturing civil ceremonies at town halls for the legal part. I’ve shared top tips for planning London Town Hall weddings which include beautiful settings for the legal ceremony. Having had a multicultural wedding myself, they always hold a special place in my heart and I’d love to hear about your plans, please send me a message.
