Arthur was a premature baby, arriving 3.5 weeks earlier than expected and spending quite a bit of time in hospital in his first few weeks. I met him when he was 2 weeks old and he was tiny and perfect. I loved this at home premature baby photography session with Arthur and his parents Si and Val – it was so lovely to get to know them all. Val had chosen some very sweet outfits for Arthur (penguin & rabbit costumes!) and also asked me to incorporate her territorial army helmet into the photos, to show just how little he was. It was really special to be able to photograph both Val & Si feeding Arthur – as well as taking their very first family photo.

Val very kindly wrote about the experience of having me visit their home for this premature baby photography session:

“Hannah was wonderful. It felt like we had a family member taking pictures of us – except none of the fuss or ‘brutal honesty’ that some family members can’t help but give! Our little boy arrived 3.5 weeks early, we were not ready – I’d only just finished work and then we’d spent most of the first two weeks in hospital – we’d only just been released from our 3rd hospital stay the night before Hannah arrived. We hadn’t unpacked the baby stuff bought well before he was due, let alone our hospital bag. I felt pretty gutted thinking the pictures wouldn’t be great just from the state of the place – and us!

Straight away Hannah relaxed us, she didn’t seem to notice the chaos and all we had to do was smile – that was easy. Our little boy was 15 days old and slept pretty much the whole time with Hannah’s gentle touch. I had spent weeks trying to find a reasonable photographer and one where we didn’t need to travel much, I got quite stressed about it as there was pressure of booking in advance and not missing the ‘newborn’ stage. I got very frustrated that most websites didn’t have clear pricing and only after a lot of emails would you get a breakdown… Thankfully we were recommended Hannah through a friend who’d used her for their baby – we loved her pictures and she came to us (despite the chaos).

I cannot recommend Hannah enough. We didn’t really have any ideas of what we wanted as we were a bit shell shocked and sleep deprived as most new parents are, but Hannah was experienced and both naturally & thankfully took the lead. The pictures were amazing – and our family loves them… We will definitely be using Hannah again, I’m gutted we didn’t know about her before our wedding as we would have used her… I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hannah, I’m sure you’ll have the same positive experience and write a similar review”

I always travel to you for newborn photography – I find it lets everyone feel comfortable and relaxed in their own environment and reduces the stress for baby and new parents. I allow up to 3 hours to make sure there’s plenty of time for feeding, changing and settling with no pressure, letting me create relaxed, natural portraits capturing moment of connection as well as little details.

If you like my premature baby photography and you’d like to see more, you can see an at home newborn photography session with a 2 week old baby here, or a newborn session including grandparents here.
